Programs at Rafiki

Wellness programs at Rafiki are designed to enhance community connection and mental and physical health. Rafiki Coalition offers a series of new youth centered programming focusing on physical, mental, and emotional wellness through activity and performing arts. See our offerings below!

Cooking Matters for Youth

Join Rafiki and 18 Reasons for a fun-filled summer program designed especially for youth ages 8–17! From May 20 to June 24, 2025, we’ll meet every Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Rafiki. Together, we’ll explore the joys of cooking with fresh, local ingredients while building essential kitchen skills.

Each session will be led by talented chefs and nutrition educators from 18 Reasons. They’ll guide you through interactive lessons about cooking, meal planning, and making smart food choices. Plus, you’ll receive fresh produce to take home each week, so you can share your new cooking skills with your family! As a bonus, upon completion of the program, you’ll earn a stipend, have the chance to win fabulous weekly raffle prizes, and be entered into a grand prize drawing. This program is a wonderful opportunity for young people to grow their confidence in the kitchen, make lasting friendships, and adopt healthy habits that can benefit them for a lifetime.

Register via email  at bewell@rafikicoalition.org by Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Remember, space is limited, and the first 15 students to register will secure their spot in this exciting cohort!

Rafiki Youth Biking Program

This spring, we are thrilled to collaborate with the SF Bike Coalition and Operation Genesis for another fun and adventurous 12-week program! Our goal is to introduce middle to high school students to the excitement of biking, safely explore new parts of their community, and teach them how to construct and maintain their own bicycles. We provide eco-friendly transportation options while promoting restorative practices among young individuals. Through family bike rides around the bay, we aim to create occasions for different age groups to bond and learn to support each other. We firmly believe that our restorative life skills circles- featuring youth, mental health professionals, and various organizations- will empower them to enhance emotional intelligence and learn to navigate their feelings and any challenges they may have encountered or contributed to.

To register for this program, please email our Program Coordinator Destiny Williams at dwilliams@rafikicoalition.org by February 15th. Limited spots available. Register now.
