SUMMARY:GENERATIONS 2026
DESCRIPTION:GENERATIONS: Black LGPTQIA+ History Experiences\nRooted In Legacy\, Rising In Power\nWhen: Friday\, February 27\, 2026\, from 6-9 PM \nWhere: Fluid510 – 1544 Broadway\, Oakland\, CA 94612 \nFor generations\, Black LGBTQIA+ people have stood at the forefront of resistance leading civil rights struggles\, fueling revolutionary movements for Black power\, and demanding liberation for all. We have always been here\, reshaping the world with our courage\, vision\, and unrelenting fight for justice. \nGenerations 2026 honors this unbroken lineage. Rooted in Legacy\, Rising in Power celebrates the revolutionary spirit of our ancestors while amplifying today’s changemakers who carry the torch forward. This annual gathering unites the Bay Area’s Black LGBTQIA+ community to recognize that our power flows through us from those who fought before and will surge through those who come after. \nThroughout the evening\, we celebrate current luminaries\, the activists\, organizers\, artists\, and visionaries standing on the shoulders of giants while blazing new trails. \nTheir work echoes the fierce determination of Black LGBTQIA+ revolutionaries who demanded that freedom mean freedom for all of us. \nThe night culminates in the spectacular Generations Mini Ball\, where participants compete for cash prizes while showcasing radical self-expression and Black queer excellence on the runway. Our joy\, our beauty\, and our unapologetic existence are acts of resistance. The celebration continues at the Generations Afterparty because our community and our power deserve to be honored all night long. \nREGISTER HERE.

SUMMARY:Reclaiming Wellness: Trauma Lives in the Body: How Communities Carry Pain
DESCRIPTION:Reclaiming Wellness:\nTrauma Lives in the Body: How Communities Carry Pain\nThursday\, January 29th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Doors open at 5:15 PM) \nAt Rafiki Coalition\, 601 Cesar Chavez\, San Francisco\, CA\, 94124 \nLed by criminologist Dr. Talia Moore\, this Reclaiming Wellness Mental Health Spotlight explores trauma as a collective and intergenerational experience rather than solely an individual psychological issue. \nDrawing on trauma science\, historical context\, and lived experience\, this session examines how chronic stress\, systemic inequities\, and historical harm shape the ways communities adapt\, survive\, and protect themselves across generations. \nParticipants will learn how trauma is embodied and how stress exposure can be transmitted through families and communities. Through a guided reflection and facilitated discussion\, attendees are invited to explore the survival messages passed down within their own communities and consider pathways toward collective healing\, connection\, and restoration. \nJoin us for this healing event! SUMMARY:Reclaiming Wellness: A Mental Health Spotlight Series
DESCRIPTION:Reclaiming Wellness: A Mental Health Spotlight Series\nTopic: Wanting Without Knowing: Creative Wellness as a Practice of Introspection and Embodiment \nWhen: January 15\, 2026\, from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM \nWhere: Rafiki Coalition\, 601 Cesar Chavez\, San Francisco\, CA\, 94124 \nWanting Without Knowing: Creative Wellness as a Practice of Introspection and Embodiment is a 1-hour somatic and creative wellness experience that explores how creativity can support mental health\, emotional regulation\, and self-connection\, especially during moments of uncertainty\, transition\, or longing. \nRooted in how we relate to one another and listen to the body\, this session invites participants to experience creative wellness not as a talent or outcome\, but as a practice of slowing down\, noticing\, and being with what’s truly present\, even when clarity hasn’t arrived yet. \nThrough brief reflections\, guided somatic check-ins\, and low-stakes creative practices\, participants will explore what it means to want something without fully knowing what it is\, and how the body\, imagination\, and creative expression can offer insight without forcing answers. This approach is especially resonant for Black communities navigating stress\, grief\, change\, and ongoing demands to “figure it out.” \nThe session weaves in inspiration from Black speculative fiction writers and cultural thinkers\, offering moments to pause\, reflect\, and try things on together. No artistic experience is required\, just curiosity and a willingness to show up. \nWhat to expect:  \n\nGentle movement to help you arrive\nMedia (quotes and excerpts) to engage with to spark insight and witnessing\nA creative moment (guided by me) to practice alongside each other\n\nYou’ll leave with: \n\nA deeper understanding of creative wellness as mental health care\nSimple\, accessible practices for introspection and embodied awareness you can use daily\nAnd a felt sense of connection to yourself\, your body\, and your community\n\nAshanti Hazina Bio \nAshanti Hazina is a Black\, queer expressive arts therapist and creative wellness practitioner based in the East Bay\, Richmond\, CA. Their work is deeply informed by relational\, liberation-centered\, and body-autonomy frameworks\, focusing on how people relate to themselves and one another\, and how meaning is made through connection\, alongside the wisdom of Black queer speculative fiction authors who write about freedom\, community\, and existential possibility.  \nFor the past five years\, Ashanti has immersed herself in movements such as Traditional African Dance forms and creative arts as a path to self-discovery. As the founder of We Say Ase\, in the last two years\, Ashanti has honed this practice into supporting others through introspective art-making as tools for emotional regulation\, self-expression\, and embodiment. And most importantly to be in practice together.
