Black wellness is more than the absence of illness—it’s a practice of reclaiming joy, connection, and belonging. This interactive session combines conversation about neuroscience and health, as well as Afro-Brazilian movement, to explore how embodiment, culture, and community can become practices of resistance, resilience, and joy.

Speakers: Dr. Alan Ceaser, PhD. Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive Neuroscientist & Shaiane Duarte. Community Movement Facilitator, Culture Keeper

Dr. Alan Ceaser is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, and speaker whose work explores the intersection of Black wellness and decolonization. His work integrates psychology, neuroscience, Afrofuturism, and Black cultural traditions to explore how individuals and communities can move beyond survival toward thriving. He lives and practices in Oakland, California.

Shaiane Duarte is a Brazilian dance artist and educator from São Paulo, Brazil. With experience as a choreographer, performer, and instructor, Shaiane explores how movement can support healing, identity, and community. Her work is rooted in Afro-Brazilian dance traditions, highlighting the connection among dance, mental health, ancestry, and emotional well-being.
